Beautiful matters.
Excerpt from: "The Ceremony"
This is the part that really matters, for it is the part you won't be able to remember afterward because your heart will be beating too fast for you to concentrate on anything else. This is where life begins, and ends, where all loss and longing is forgotten-- at least for a little while. For a few minutes, you and your guests will be able to experience true purity, emotion, and most of all, love, like it exists in few other places. For a few short minutes your soul is laid bare, and your breath is all that matters. You don't want to forget a thing like that.

"A Portrait of a Day"
October 2008
About me: I work in photography because I love it. I love everything about it, from thoughtful conceptualization and shooting, to the crafting of finished prints. The entire process excites me, and I find that even though it brings me closer to the world, it also separates me a bit from it—which can be nice sometimes; even if it is the thin separation of the glass of the lens. However, I prefer to work with people whether it is the cool candid on the street, or the intimacy of the studio, photographing people helps remind me that every man is my brother, and every woman my sister.
I believe in the beauty of the moment—in love, in loss, and in longing. These are the things I look for in my lens. I also believe in technicality—in the perfection of an image. So often we find some of these things, and not others. I believe that when properly applied, all of these things must coexist in an image. Call it Zen? I don’t know what to call it, but I know it when I find it, and it is what I strive for.

Hand- Crafted Archival Gelatin Silver
Black & White Prints
It is time to slow things down, it is time to go back to basics, it is time for zen and beauty.
The fine printing of Black & White images in Gelatin Silver is a craft which is rapidly
declining in the world of high- speed connections and digital imaging. A black and white
negative can be printed digitally on regular paper, but then it loses something it once
possessed—I would call it the ‘soul’ or ‘magic’ of the image.
A fine B&W negative
deserves a fine print. Images in silver will last indefinitely, if properly handled, and
actually look better as they age. The best digital papers and inks can guarantee is 150 years.
The following prices apply to gelatin silver prints. These prices reflect the fine- art quality of the craft as well as the paper. You can expect an additional wait- period for these prints, as they are all hand made using light and silver.
Dry mounting or over- matting is available for all gelatin silver prints. Ask about pricing for 2- ply board. If you choose to use 120 film (medium format—better quality negative, and bigger prints possible) the price will increase by 1 ½%.
